In My Mailbox (#9)

This week in my mailbox I got two books. Two of which I'm very excited about and both of them are quick reads that I hope to review soon. Also to the anonymous commenter on my It's Monday! What are you Reading? meme on Monday who said encouraged me to read Pure at Heart and review it as quickly as possible, I am in the middle of reading it now, and hope to have the review up on Thursday. :) (Hopefully you are reading this)

Hazel's job at the Antioch didn't work out at all like she had planned. I was very excited when  received an email from Claudia. I was dearly awaiting the second installment in the trilogy and I can't wait to delve into The Forgotten. Here is the link for my review on The Twenty.

Favorite Book

You've probably gotten tired of me talking about this book so much, but it was the best book I read this month. The review can be found here.

Favorite Character

Casey from Casey Barnes Eponymous is my favorite character this month because her personality is magical, and hilarious. Even though her actions from time to time gets on my nerves, I think she's a wonderful character to read from her point of view.

Favorite Author

Sorry for making this month's favorites so CBE oriented, but I truly believe that this is an amazing book, and E.A Rigg is on my to be watched list in her future novels. I'm going to link here blog here. I am very excited for her a series she's working on to come out. 

Favorite Song/Album

I've been playing this album nonstop and it's the  album that I'd dance to all day if I could. The Wombats are a British band, and their lyrics and catchy tunes making me all fluffy inside.

Favorite Blogger of the Month

Delaney had her thirteenth birthday this month, and I think she deserves to be Blogger of the Month because she always involved in the book blogging community, and her posts make me smile. Thanks Delaney for everything!! :)

Favorite Booktuber of the Month

Renee from Nehomas2 has been the best booktuber out there in my opinion at uploading videos constantly. Also I love the fact that since she's in Australia I get to watch her videos in the morning and they wake me up when I'm a tired bear dreading school.

Favorite Book Cover

It was released this month that The Name of the Star paperback cover looks like so, and I have an itch to buy the paperback version, when I already have the hardcover. *sigh* 

Anyways love the mysterious, and haunting people walking. I kind of hope that the second book cover looks something similar to this, but also distraught that it won't match the first novel first edition copy. :(

Favorite Book Tubers

Like the title says:

btw these are my thoughts on my favorite booktubers. There are many more and the things I say are my opinion, no hate.

Maxiemagyx-I've been watching Kaisa for about a year now, and every time she uploads a new video I freak out because they are so sporadic. I love her personality and her editing makes me laugh. I 100000% yes, would recommend her to someone new to the booktube community.

Nehomas2- Renee is the first Australian booktuber I've found and I personally love her rants. They make me want to be best friends with her. She doesn't do that many book reviews, but that doesn't matter to me. Renee also uploads really frequently, and I usually see from two to four new videos of her's up in the morning because of the time differences from the US.

Theebookmonster- Liddy is the youngest book tuber I've ever watched and I love her reviews, some of which made me really big fans of authors. Most of the videos of her's is when she is in Portugal and I was totally geeking out by that fact alone. Anyways she has that video quality of Maxiemagyx and the humorous ways of my closest friends.

Kayleyreads- Kayley also has very good quality videos, but I love her personality and the fact that she travels everywhere. Currently she's in England and her videos come not as often as I'd like.

BookswithCourt- Courtney is like a big sister for me. Her reviews are nicely paced and can be followed easily. Her book hauls are my favorites, and her videos come not often as I'd like either.

Review: Casey Barnes Eponymous by E.A. Rigg

It's three weeks into the school year when music junkie Casey Barnes gets a second chance with her mysterious, heartbreaking ex-boyfriend. She comes up with a plan to win him back, but it soon spins out of control as rivalries, revelations about him, and music itself all start to collide. For Casey the newfound attention means learning the difference between wanting center stage and actually being on it.

Casey Barnes Eponymous had to be the closest book I've ever related to and at the same time shown me this whole other side. I'm a musician to some degree and the area that this story took place in really made me giggly to no end.

E.A. Rigg how I worship at your feet for writing the most epic playlist novel with the best main character there could possible be. All the playlists in this novel made me really proud and some what downgraded what I thought good music was and the epicness that I have been missing in the punk/rock community. I love the dialogue written in the story and the characters were completely life like.

Review: Bridgeworld by Travis McBee

I write honest reviews. I have never read a book that I didn't particularly like, and then write a beyond amazingly book review. Saying that, I'm not trying to say that I didn't like the novel, but what I'm saying is that I couldn't finish it. The novel had a loose frame, and didn't have a clear problem, and I was waiting every next chapter for that big ba-boom to hit me, but it never came. It could be the next chapter, but I don't want to waste anymore time on a book that I don't see any clear problem the character has to overcome.

Travis McBee has to have a list of similes and metaphors in a huge journal, because when I read this novel, it sounded like my English teacher went high on them. I love how he described a scenery, and time and time again, I felt like he could be writing a better story. I hate saying that, but the idea of the boy goes to an alien school isn't original or interesting enough, for me. Maybe you'll like it, but I personally don't. Also, I have to mention that I skimmed over many parts of the novel, and still didn't miss a beat. There's a part of me that feels let down by that fact.

I don't read many male protagonist books, because I usually don't connect with them, and how Will is described really erks me. Will actually reminds me of a couple of guys I know into one, and it isn't a nice experience. His attitude to things are so carefree at times, it doubles my frustration that there isn't a real problem in the book. Nothing is challenging him.

I was very excited to receive Settling from Shelley Workinger a week or so ago. If you haven't read Solid (the first novel in the trilog) you should. I'll link the review here. Anyways, I started reading the novel over last weekend, and this is the very first novel that I read on my new nook. I don't want this to be about ereading so here goes the review.

Shelley Workinger is one the authors that I love, and her debut series has satisfied me quite well. For her second novel, I was spoiled with spoilers before, and I was shocked at first. Then when I read the novel, the spoilers of what Clio does, does not surprise me, and I don't hate Shelley for writing the way Clio is. I wouldn't say that I'm thrilled by the prospect, but I'm not going around hating it. Shelley's writing is wonderful like last time, and I enjoyed the new characters she brought on and the mystery she still brings to a novel that is supposed to be about settling down in your new home.

Series I'm Currently Reading or Waiting For

Since there are just so many covers for this novel, I'm not sure which one is the actual cover. I'll just say the Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare, Clockwork Princess. I have the first two books in the series, and I hope to read the last one soon when it comes out.

The next series is one of my most recent favorites, the Shades of London series by Maureen Johnson. The next novel comes out in January and I'm extremely eager to read it. I have know doubts that I won't like it, but there is always a chance.

Days of Blood and Starlight is also the second novel in the Daughter of Smoke and Bone series by Laini Taylor. I don't know how long I can wait for the book to come out, but I maybe the few who love the first novel.

Review: Of Light and Darkness by Shayne Leighton

I received this novel very unexpectedly because you may know this novel will be a movie, coming out in 2013. For me that's already a warning sign on how good this book will be. Usually novels, that turn into books-which means every movie out there these days- are either incredibly amazing, or down right sad and pathetic of a book, not trying to be harsh, but that's my opinion. So I'm on the later side of things for Of Light and Darkness. I'm someone who can't keep reading a book when they've made up their mind about disliking it. I read up to page 77, and was like "No, nope, no more, I can't handle this." 

I write honest reviews, and I don't get paid to do this either from the recent news about authors paying reviewers. So when I looked up the author of this novel, my thoughts weren't particularly joyous. It maybe a Hollywood actor, who is writing an album, and a ya series, but you have to have flaws in what you do, especially with that much you do. I wouldn't say that her writing was bad per se, but I just didn't enjoy the story. It felt like everything else on the shelves at my local B&N ya section. Some supernatural bimbo falling desperately in love with something that is totally wrong for her.

Characters were a big part of what made me stop. I couldn't keep reading from whoever the red-headed human girl was. She is one of my least favorite characters because of her willingness and self-proclaimed soul mate to her guardian. For me that's incest. I couldn't keep on reading without having my walls up on incest and other things in that area. I just couldn't.

What I Read

I didn't like this novel very much, and I couldn't finish it for some reasons that I will mention in tomorrow's post, the review. 

What I'm Currently Reading

I'm very excited to read this novel, and so far, which is much, I'm loving it. I've read some spoilers when I was looking up the first novel, Solid, and there are a lot of mixed reviews for this novel, and I'm hoping that I'll still love the series and continue to read the third novel when it comes out in November. 

What I Hope to Read

I all ready read the prologue and I can just see all the amazing adventures and things in general that are going to blow my mind. I love the characters in this novel so far, and I hope to finish reading it when I finish Settling.

Blog Post Playlist

If you didn't already know I'm a HUGE lover of music. I love pretty much everything about it. So that also means that I adore all genres and I listen to a specific sort of music when I write blog posts.

Usually when I'm writing these it's either really early in the morning or late at night. Both times I need some music to pick me up and give me an up beat tempo at writing. So that means I usually listen to electronic/rock music when I write blog posts. I think these bands/people I listen to should also be listened to besides from writing. My favorite song of theirs is in italics.
