Blog Tour: Shadows by Ilsa J. Bick

The Apocalypse does not end. The Changed will grow in numbers. The Spared may not survive.

Even before the EMPs brought down the world, Alex was on the run from the demons of her past and the monster living in her head. After the world was gone, she believed Rule could be a sanctuary for her and those she’d come to love.
But she was wrong.

Now Alex is in the fight of her life against the adults, who would use her, the survivors, who don’t trust her, and the Changed, who would eat her alive.

Welcome to Shadows, the second book in the haunting apocalyptic Ashes Trilogy: where no one is safe and humans may be the worst of the monsters.

From goodreads

Shadows may be the only book that has got me sucked in a the beginning. I've talked about this book for about a month on the blog and all I could say was the prologue was intense. I have to say a fair warning now that I didn't read the first novel yet, but I'm planning to read the entire series all at once soon.

Ilsa J. Bick is a new author to me and boy do I want to meet her now. I usually like to keep wanting to meet an author at a distance because sometimes your role models or heroes let you down. Ilsa, though, really made reading a sequel to a novel you've never read a bit more bearable than I thought. I especially love how she manages to write incredibly detailed actions scenes with out slowing everything down. It seemed incredibly life like.

I didn't meet these characters in Shadows before hand in the first novel because I didn't read the first novel like I said at the start. My perception of all the characters are different then most and not completely sure about any. I find that I miss so much history between characters that I skim. It's going to be my duty to read Ashes soon.

I learned a lot about guns. That's a simple statement that I'm not sure that I wanted to say or not. I was completely clueless about guns before, and somehow I've came out a better? person knowing so much about a weapon that killed millions. It's hard to say, but I think that if you're into that kind of deal Shadows is made for you. This being stated again: I need to read the first novel to get the full effect; I'm going to give Shadows a head nods and thumbs up. (4 out of 5)

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (#8)

meme is started by bookjourney

What I Read This Week:

I started reading Wintergirls a week ago? I think. This book has made me.... different per se. I'm not sure what my final thoughts on it are yet, but the review will be up on Tuesday.

What I Am Currently Reading:

I am part of the blog tour for Shadows by Ilsa J. Bick. I read the prologue without knowing about the first book, and so far I'm sucked into it. :)

What I'm Going to Read Next:

Living together unsupervised, five troubled teens confront demonic forces and are compelled to deal with their problems in distinctly different ways. Paranormal meets psycho meets Goth in this story of a supernatural haunting and budding love.

High school junior, Ben, hacks into his step-father's real estate holdings and provides rooms in an old two-story house to various outcasts: the schizophrenic kid, the angry Goth girl, and the homeless girl who worships him. When Megan needs a place to live she comes to the rooming house with a different set of problems and the ability to confuse and attract Ben.

One by one strange and mysterious occurrences stretch the teens’ beliefs in the supernatural. How they deal with demons, real and imagined, has tragic as well as redeeming consequences.

It's Monday! What are you Reading? (#4)

What I Read

I didn't like this novel very much, and I couldn't finish it for some reasons that I will mention in tomorrow's post, the review.

What I'm Currently Reading

I'm very excited to read this novel, and so far, which is much, I'm loving it. I've read some spoilers when I was looking up the first novel, Solid, and there are a lot of mixed reviews for this novel, and I'm hoping that I'll still love the series and continue to read the third novel when it comes out in November.

What I Hope to Read

I all ready read the prologue and I can just see all the amazing adventures and things in general that are going to blow my mind. I love the characters in this novel so far, and I hope to finish reading it when I finish Settling.

To-be Read (reviewed) List

I'm currently reading this novel, and am loving it so far. I might have the review up by next week.

I've recently, like a few days ago recieved this novel. I am hoping to have one of those sit down and read for the whole day next weekend, and get this book reviewed next week as well.

I bought this book for school because I don't have an ereader I can bring to school, but that will be changing soon in the next two-three weeks. I have read Revolution by Jennifer Donnelly and have reviewed the novel and you can check it out when you click on the Book Reviewed section of the blog.

I'm involved in a book tour for this novel and have a specific date that I'm supposed to post my review on. So far, not very far really, I love the writing and expansive world the author has created.
