fanfiction

I've been in a reading rut like I told you so much recently, so I've been writing more. I'm not writing fanfiction, if that's what you're thinking. Trust me, I'd tell you first if I was, but this post is about my experience, if you can say that, with fanfiction, and my thoughts on it.

I'm quite a free-spirited person, and I have access to the internet, so I've read things. I've read a lot of fanfiction in my life time. The reason I got into reading really, was reading Twilight at first, and you can hate me on that, but I won't hate you if you are a Harry Potter fan. That's a whole different conversation. So, like I said, I didn't read much, until Twilight got into my eye sight. That's when I got into my fangirl mode, and started obsessing over Twilight. When I was in that geeking out mode, I started reading fanfiction. I think that's the start of when I'd read at night, a lot. I still have to read at night, something, because of those months. I'm not a insomniac or something, but that's what comforts me at night, when I'm trying to sleep. So, of course, I'm for fanfiction. I live off of it sometimes. There's so many fanfiction stories-Twilight, and others- that I adore, and I think should be published.

I know there's another side of fanfiction that some people only see. It's the side that thinks that stories that end should end, and not have these added drama, or plot lines. I can see their side of the argument, but for me I do that so often in my head, that if I see it written down it's a treat. It's kind of like, a friendship that started from something I and someone else like, and then our minds and thoughts, have brought us to a rough idea of what we think should or should've happen. Now, that there are so many series in the young adult genre, it's normal in my opinion to write down our thoughts and what we want to happen.

There are also some people that say that if these writers are good enough to write a wonderful story, why not write their own characters and setting. I think that some people like to write what they know, and what they know best happen to be their favorite books/characters. I find nothing wrong in that. Also I see it as a challenge, because when you write a character more than once for me anyways, I wish I can change how this person will react or think. Another thing is that many fanfiction have turned into published works, and many authors get their word out there through fanfiction, more than anything else.

I know that I told you about my obsession with Twilight in earlier years, and you might think towards the recently popular adult novels, that were inspired by the series, and were fanfiction. I myself, don't read those novels/fanfiction, and I don't intend to. It's just something I personally don't like, and wouldn't like to read. So that's my thoughts on that.

My views on writing is quite free, as long as you're not doing anything illegal, I see no wrong in that. Well, also if you don't personally antagonize someone in your writing, but I think that goes without saying. I hope I didn't step on anyone's feet, and please comment below on your thoughts on fanfiction. Please keep everything PG like I know you will. *looks at you like I know what you're thinking*

It's Monday! What are you Reading? (#7)

meme started by bookjourney

What I Read:

I read and reviewed this book on Thursday. Had an amazing time putting all my emotions and thoughts while reading the novel on to the review. Please check it out here.

It's three weeks into the school year when music junkie Casey Barnes gets a second chance with her mysterious, heartbreaking ex-boyfriend. She comes up with a plan to win him back, but it soon spins out of control as rivalries, revelations about him, and music itself all start to collide. For Casey the newfound attention means learning the difference between wanting center stage and actually being on it.

What I'm Currently Reading:

“Dead girl walking,” the boys say in the halls.
“Tell us your secret,” the girls whisper, one toilet to another.
I am that girl.
I am the space between my thighs, daylight shining through.
I am the bones they want, wired on a porcelain frame.

Lia and Cassie are best friends, wintergirls frozen in matchstick bodies, competitors in a deadly contest to see who can be the skinniest. But what comes after size zero and size double-zero? When Cassie succumbs to the demons within, Lia feels she is being haunted by her friend’s restless spirit.

In her most emotionally wrenching, lyrically written book since the multiple-award-winning Speak, Laurie Halse Anderson explores Lia’s descent into the powerful vortex of anorexia, and her painful path toward recovery.

Having gotten this novel this week, I saw that it was quite a quick read that can go by in one sitting. Hopefully I'll get that one sitting. *fingers crossed*

P.S. Who ever left the comment about having a review on Pure at Heart by Sahara Epari asap, I'm going to have to postpone that review for a week or two. I hope who ever you are are reading this, and that you read a wonderful book in the mean time.

The Extent of My Procrastination

I procrastinate, more than I should, but I still do. I think I've mastered away of Procrastinating while having everyone else believe that everything is under control, and nothing is "wrong".

I didn't really post much last week, more because it was my first week back to school, and also because I haven't had a school and blogging schedule routine like I did at the end of the last school year. If you want to know my routine then well here it is. I write a list of posts I'm going to write from Monday to Friday, sometimes I post an In My Mailbox on Sunday. Usually I don't have many ideas for when I haven't read a book in a while, That takes up to four days, believe it or not, to just think up of ideas to write the next week. Then on the weekends sometime unknown I'll sit down like I'm doing now and write for about three hours. I'll read other people's blogs, get distracted and watch book tubers, or blank out and start daydreaming.

Now I love blogging, and especially book blogging because there are so many nice people out here in this community I'm very glad I've never gotten a rude or mean comment before, but I know it will come someday. I know there aren't people that read my blog only, or have read all of my posts and that encourages me to make better ones so that you do.

I'm a writer, somewhat. I thought I was going to just be a reader after this summer of constantly wanting to read, and kind of dreaded writing at parts, but I

Thoughts on ereading, ebooks, and ereaders

Lately I've been seeing around youtube book vloggers and sometimes on bloggers talk about the new day and age of reading, ereaders. We all have KindleNook , iPad , and ect. many places. Or at least if you live in a large community or city. The lightweight device that can hold you entire library and more is a fairly new development and has gotten a humongous hate and love.

So I'm going to back track and tell you about the beginning of ereaders for me. This might take a while, and if you don't really care there are many book reviews of great novels on this blog, go check those out. Now, I was very skeptical like most book lovers about what eink and a kindle would be like for the future of books. I worried that in a decade or less that there will no longer be bookstores and libraries. I worry that there will be a time wear they relate books as a machine and not a paper story with a cover,  freshly printed smell, and smooth pages. That is still very worrying now, and I can totally see where you are coming from if you don't like ereaders.

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (#2)

It's Monday! What are you reading? meme started by bookjourney.

What I Read:

This past week I took a couple of days off of reading my to-do list and started reading a bunch of fanfiction. ;(

What I'm currently reading:

I started reading The Hobbit last week, and on and off again read it. Sadly I'm only on chapter three. I find it difficult to read the book quickly like I do with most books because of how much fillers are in it.

I was sent a request to read Solid by Shelley Workinger and I started reading it. I am only on the second chapter, but it seems promising. I hope to have a review of it later this week, or next.

What I hope to read in the future:

I started Matched months ago, and it has been in the back in my mind for a while. I am hoping to read it next week! :)

An Update of such

If you read my blog on a daily basis you might have noticed that I did not post much this past week. Mostly because I didn't have the energy and nothing of importance was needed for the blog. I'm so sorry that I was unable to post a playlist today, but I hope there will be one next week.

As for my absence I've been reading constantly for reviews and a book tour is coming soon to Read'n'Write.  I find that posting every week day is quite difficult and that I will try to achieve that goal, but is not promising anything.

In the sidebar to your right is a Media section where I added another place where you can communicate with me. It's called Formspring. There you can ask me any questions you want. e.i. book reviews, books I'm currently reading. Anything, but please let's don't be gross. My username is Clarareads if you wanted to look it up instead. Also please follow me on twitter:) I love to chat with you guys so if you have a twitter please tweet me.

Since I've started so many books this past week, I see many reviews in the future and hope you check them out in the next week or two. If you haven't yest please follow. :) Thanks for everything and comment on anything you like.

Writing to Wednesday: Birthday

So it was my birthday recently and it wasn't anything different. Besides the fact that it was also the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and that my pregnant fish gave birth around the same time I was born it was quite mundane. I wouldn't say that growing is mundane though because if you really notice how we change over a few weeks to years it's quite drastic how the world changes us.

You may be asking what I got for my birthday and well I got a new ipod touch charger because the old one was breaking. If you guys didn't know I check on the blog every morning before I go to school on that thing and try to answer all of your questions or just feedback. I also got a book. What book? Cinder by Marissa Meyer. I recently saw a review on it on Youtube (bookswithcourt) and it was really drew me in. The only thing I didn't like about getting the book was that Barnes and Nobel needs to stop reorganizing their shelves so often. It gets on my nerves at time when the young adult section is on one side, but all the new young adult novels that recently came out is on the other. It took me forever to find it and I personally don't really like their kiosk for finding books. The keyboard didn't work!
