Don't Quote Me (#34)

This is True...

I saw this image recently and felt the need to share it with you guys because I know many people in real life that are stuck in the same place in life, and don't do anything to change it-especially when it comes to the people they surround themselves with. Your friends are the family you choose, so you have to choose wisely and it's okay to change them as you change too. Think of your life as a house, and every couples months or years new people come in and out and live with you for awhile. They all teach you something, and are apart of you no matter what. So it's really important be reassess your relationships with your friends and making sure that they are complimenting your life, not causing trouble in it. I heard somewhere that the five people you surround yourself around the most, you inherently mimic them. So you want to mimic amazing people that embrace and help you through your life, as you want to help them.

I think this is extremely important for teenagers like myself to realize that the people you like last month, aren't always the people for you, and that's okay. You don't have to be negative and go out of the way to totally ignore them, but always allow new people in your life.

Don't Quote Me (#31)

My new Don't Quote Me series is going to be one main one, and I'm going to add a story or more information why I add the quotes I choose to share with you guys.

This week I chose:

I've heard this quote a few years ago from someone else I can't remember. It maybe in a book I was reading tbh I can't remember. Though what really stuck with me was that people really admire those who treat others like they're amazing. They build them up, even though the person building them up has hundred of more accomplishments or more successful than they are. It's when you make other people feel smart, even though they always tell you you are always smart and compare themselves to you. I have gotten that a lot in school, and it really annoys me. I hate it when people say, "Well if you can't do it, I definitely can't." I didn't realize I had more power than any of my peers. When did this power happen? Have I been blessed by the gods? Have I been carrying this paranormal ability that only other people see? It's all really strange when people under mind themselves, because something I can't do. I want them to succeed. I don't want anyone to think that there are only these few top students in the class that can achieve the unbelievable because it's just stupid. If you work your but off you can do anything. I have seen it with my own eyes. It takes a hell of a lot of discipline, but the end product is worth it. So I guess this week, I want to share with you that I'm working to make people feel like they can do anything, in this sense. Make the people I'm around on a daily basis understand that they are worth it, and that they can do what they want to achieve.

Quotes: Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson

I forgot to write the quotes I highlighted while reading Wintergirls in my review, and I have a lot so I think I'll just tell you all of them. Some of these quotes might be spoilers, it depends on how you look at them. :)

pg. 14 "We were secret sisters with a plan for world domination, potential bubbling around is like champagne."

pg. 18 "...body found in a motel room, alone..."

pg. 21. "The snow drifts into our zombie mouths crawling with grease and curses and tobacco..."

pg. 31 "The nurse who handed out meds was so fat her skin was stretched tight. If she moved too fast, it would rip open and her yellow stuffing would spill out, ruining her Disney World sweat shirt."

pg. 49 "Her voice is sticky, like lipstick bled on her tongue."

pg. 67 "It screws up the laws of physics for her to occupy the same room as the first wife."

pg. 89 "We held hands when we walked down the gingerbread path into the forest, blood dripping from out fingers. We danced with witches and kissed monsters. We turned us into wintergirls, and when she tried to leave, I pulled her back into the snow because I was afraid to be alone."

pg. 103 "I place the phone itself under the left rear tire and drive back and forth over it thirty-three times."

pg. 143 "I throw off the blanket and stand up. 'This is stupid. You're gong to lecture me and boss me around, I'm going to yell back, it'll be like always. We can't even pretend to get along. I'm out of here.'"

pg. 180 "She wipes a snowflake off my cheek. "You're not dead, but you're not alive either. You're a wintergirl, Lia-Lia, caught in between the worlds. You're a ghost with a beating heart. Soon you'll cross the border and be with me. I'm so stoked. I miss you wicked."

pg. 184 "'Anemia,' she says. 'Plus low blood sugar, low phosphates, low calcium, low T3-don't know what that means-high white blood cells, low platelets. They sewed you up with black threads, thirty-three stitches, isn't that weird? Oh, and you have ketones in your pee. Keep this up and we'll do New Year's together. Stay strong, sweetie."

pg. 194 "I am dying to know how much I weigh. There are no scales here and they wouldn't tell me at the hospital. They stuck so much goo into me, I bet I put on ten pounds. My skin itches from the new fat. It's going to split and peel off me. Melissa gives me skin cream and watches while I rub it on my arms and legs."

pg. 200 "Oh, Go. Oh, God. I am on top of the highest mountain. The icy ground is shaking, an earthquake, the world beneath me opening up with fire, steel arms ready to pull me down.

I have to move. I can't stay here anymore.

I throw myself down the mountain and open my mouth."

pg. 203 "'I believe that you've created a metaphorical universe in which you can express your darkest fears. In one aspect, yes, I believe in ghosts, but we create them. We haunt ourselves, and sometimes we do such a good job, we lose track of reality.'"

pg. 204 "One day the wind will carry them off. Nobody will notice."

Don't Quote Me (#3)

I can just imagine an army of toddlers at the playground. :)

I love this woman! Also because she's wearing a Victorian era dress.
 ;)
I have done this so many times while writing reviews and essays. Sometimes auto-correct is totally off.
I love how the girl is smiling so innocently, and I have to agree with her.

Anyone else that wants to join Don't Quote Me, it's every Wednesday and you can just leave you link in the comment section. Go ahead and leave your comments, I look forward to them everyday! :)

Don't Quote Me (#1)

I find it that since we live in such a place where media is constantly blaring itself at us, there are many misquotations. I personally love quotes and I love to share them to people, and pull out a super spiffy quote at just the right moment. (Which doesn't happen often, I'm working on it) So I have decided to make a meme for quotes. Every Wednesday from now on, hopefully. All you have to do is share a quote or many quotes you have thought of, read, or heard of in that nature.

Don't Quote Me isn't going to judge others if they miss quote, because honestly we - if you are a human -  are always making mistakes. So I find myself always saying," Don't quote me on that." If you'd like to join me please do. If you have any questions please email me at Clarareads@gmail.com.

So I decided to have some pinterest fun and all of the sayings/quotes I got are from pintereset. :) If you haven't yet checked it out, go do yourself a favor because it's amazing. But I do have to warn you that it can be very time consuming. Please leave a link to your Don't Quote Me and/or leave a comment!!:)

Mulitpe Quotes

I've decided that there should be a mulitple quote Wednesday? You agree? Good. Well I thought that maybe one quote doesn't particularly mean much to everyone so I've decided to combine all the quotes I've seen or thought up the past week in this weekly meme sort of thing. Any names for the meme? leave comments and suggestions below :)

There's not much to say about this, but go read the Hunger Games if you haven't already!
So TRUE. Inside and out.

Absolutely love this quote. Tell me in the comments what you think because I think this speaks for it's self in a way. :)

First, if you haven't listened to any Cara Salimando song you should. Second, how on Earth did I not notice that.
