Blog Tour: Review of Hybrid by Juliann Whicker (Book 2 of The House of Slide series)

Dariana Sanders, daughter of the prestigious House of Slide, has her hands full. The Bloodworker who killed her brother is dead, but it turns out that he's not the only one who wants Dari, or who will do anything to make sure that she's taken care of before she learns to control her powers and becomes a force to be reckoned with. She needs her friends, family, and a reluctant soulmate if she's going to survive.

from goodreads

After reading the first novel of the House of Slide series, I was fangirling since I found out that Hybrid would be coming out at the end of the year. It took me two days to read this book, and possibly one if I didn't have to go to school. I like the compact feel of a book that you can start in the morning, and finish at night, while still giving you the entire experience.

Juliann Whicker is one of my all time favorite authors, mostly because of the world she makes. Also she creates a series that is original, unlike many of the novels that are out on the shelves in the Paranormal Romance section of the bookstore/library. One of my favorite parts of Hybrid, is that the pace is strong, and it never lacks action or suspense. I would be lying if I never laughed out loud, smiled like a fan girl, and have my eyes tear up a bit-not all at the same time of course.

Thoughts on ereading, ebooks, and ereaders

Lately I've been seeing around youtube book vloggers and sometimes on bloggers talk about the new day and age of reading, ereaders. We all have KindleNook , iPad , and ect. many places. Or at least if you live in a large community or city. The lightweight device that can hold you entire library and more is a fairly new development and has gotten a humongous hate and love.

So I'm going to back track and tell you about the beginning of ereaders for me. This might take a while, and if you don't really care there are many book reviews of great novels on this blog, go check those out. Now, I was very skeptical like most book lovers about what eink and a kindle would be like for the future of books. I worried that in a decade or less that there will no longer be bookstores and libraries. I worry that there will be a time wear they relate books as a machine and not a paper story with a cover,  freshly printed smell, and smooth pages. That is still very worrying now, and I can totally see where you are coming from if you don't like ereaders.

Review: Hotblood by Juliann Whicker

Hotblood by Juliann Whicker lingers in my mind and I hope I don't forget the wonderful and magical characters. All 298 pages have made me felt pain, sorrow, hope, and giddy in all then less than 24 hours. I can tell you I spent the night reading through morning, and I don't regret it. When I found out about this novel, I thought that it was just another paranormal romance, cheesy, not really well thought out, and a fairy tale sort of charm to it. Boy was I wrong! This novel was nothing that I expected, and something more, I dare say.
Juliann Whicker's writing made me really happy reading whatever she wrote. The way she wrote the novel just flowed smoothly and realistically on the screen in my mind. I read that I should be open minded about this novel, and I didn't have to because it opened my mind for me without me noticing. Weird, right? I loved and hated the different point of views from the two main characters. I love how the author created this whole different paranormal aspect of what we expect from today's young adult novels. I honestly loved the dark, and deathly frighting scenes and couldn't get enough.

Dari, or Dariana was a very interesting main protagonist from the get-go. She didn't bore me, or maybe because of the wide span of lovable characters made it seem so. I can't say this to every novel, maybe The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, but Hotblood in particular I had no problems with any characters. I love all of them "good" and "bad". They all contributed something, and had a soul of there own. I of course love Lewis with all of his faults and mystery that shrouds the outcome of the novel. I don't think there could be a more enjoyable love interest for Dari.

In My Mailbox (#1)

He stole a kiss from the wrong girl…
Left without a soul, 17-year-old Dariana Sanders waited to die. There was nothing left to live for, nothing to feel besides the aching cold that never stopped. Her parent’s marriage was in shambles, and her brother, the only one who understood, the only one who knew how to make the cold go away, was gone forever. The only thing Dariana knew with absolute certainty was that nothing could possibly be right again. Enter Lewis Axel Nialls. Luckily for her, impossible is right up his alley. He can save her from the forces that wish to destroy her. Of course who’s going to save him, from her?
