If I Didn't Have A Book Blog.

BullyingSince, Hurricane Sandy is coming up the eastern sea board and I am on that side of the country (no I won't tell you where I live, stalkers) I've been trying to come up with ideas of what I can do, without the internet. Most of the things I do everyday revolves around the internet. I watch my "television" on there, but I actually just watch youtubers. I read news articles, instead of watching the news. I do research on the internet, instead of going to the library. I'm a book blogger and that got me thinking, that if I didn't start this, what would I be doing?

Well the obvious answer would be I'll still be in school. I'd still have friends, and still have the internet. Though if I didn't have this blog, I wouldn't be as happy as I am most of the time. I wouldn't get random wonderful comments from strangers that make my day, and wouldn't know some amazing people, I'd never would have otherwise. I don't like to jinx things, but I've never got a "bad" comment before, or a "mean" comment. I'm so lucky, and fortunate that I'm not cyberbullied, but I know there are many people out there that have a face on the internet, and are constantly criticized. I know that if I keep continuing this, and it gets bigger, then I'd get those "mean" comments. It's just a fact that not everyone will like you in life. I've learned to except that.

I'm most likely going to go into a lecture now... When you come across someone online, there will be people you won't like and disagree with. I've found some of those people, and right when I know that I won't like them, I move away. I look away. I unfollow them, unsubscribe, exit out, anything that will remove me from someone I dislike. That being said, you can't do that in real life, most of the time. So, be grateful that the internet allows you to do that. If you haven't removed yourself from that situation(or maybe more than on situation), you should immediately.

I think that I'm fairly informed in bullying and cyberbullying. I've seen many things online that are as rude, as stealing your best friend's cat, and leaving it out in the middle of the highway. I, myself, have been bullied for a brief amount of time, and it was nothing serious, but bullying hurts.  My feelings are here for you to read, and I'm vulnerable, so all I ask is that if you dislike me or don't agree with what I say, practice the act of removing yourself from the possibility of you bullying someone.

I never mean to lecture anyone when I write these, but sometimes I have to say these things because they mean so much to me, and I want to share them with y'all. If you didn't know, I love you guys with all of the support you give, and opportunities. It's an ego booster, hahaha. No, but really, I am more confident in myself and not wanting to hide things that I love because of this blog. Thank you for that. If I didn't have a book blog I'll be more susceptible to self-harm, and so much more that I see friends of mine go through, that don't have an outlet like this. Thanks again, and I hope this wasn't cheesy.

Love and Hugs

Giveaway to come!!!

Hi, guys. I've been blogging for almost a year coming up this holiday season, and I wanted to give back. I'm not sure of what things to giveaway, but they are book/writing related. I'll have another post with all the specific info, but for now all I'm saying is that the giveaway is international. You can live anywhere, as long as the US Postal service can get to you.

What I'm thinking about is one book, a journal, and a gift card. That is one prize out of the three of them. All three of them will have one book, a journal, and a gift card, to be clear.

The giveaway will end sometime in December, and you may enter by commenting below. I will allow people to pre-enter on this post here, but be aware that I have not chosen what to giveaway yet, and there might be somethings you won't like.

I NEED YOUR HELP!!

All I ask is for you to comment below on the book you want, or is on your wish list. I won't be giving out ebook copies, because that is too difficult. If you do that one thing, then technically you're helping yourself, because more than likely I will be putting that in the giveaway.

Please spread the word around about this giveaway!! I will be posting the official Giveaway post in October.

The Extent of My Procrastination

I procrastinate, more than I should, but I still do. I think I've mastered away of Procrastinating while having everyone else believe that everything is under control, and nothing is "wrong".

I didn't really post much last week, more because it was my first week back to school, and also because I haven't had a school and blogging schedule routine like I did at the end of the last school year. If you want to know my routine then well here it is. I write a list of posts I'm going to write from Monday to Friday, sometimes I post an In My Mailbox on Sunday. Usually I don't have many ideas for when I haven't read a book in a while, That takes up to four days, believe it or not, to just think up of ideas to write the next week. Then on the weekends sometime unknown I'll sit down like I'm doing now and write for about three hours. I'll read other people's blogs, get distracted and watch book tubers, or blank out and start daydreaming.

Now I love blogging, and especially book blogging because there are so many nice people out here in this community I'm very glad I've never gotten a rude or mean comment before, but I know it will come someday. I know there aren't people that read my blog only, or have read all of my posts and that encourages me to make better ones so that you do.

I'm a writer, somewhat. I thought I was going to just be a reader after this summer of constantly wanting to read, and kind of dreaded writing at parts, but I

Review: Survival by A.M. Hargrove

Book: Goodreads Amazon Website
Author: Website Twitter Amazon Smashwords

As you may know from the list of book reviews I have done that I love young adult/paranormal romance novels. This is exactly what I thought I wanted to get myself into after I finished Nevermore by Kelly Creagh because I just love the genre. I didn't know though that I'd come out in a faze and wondering is this really the future of young adult novels. I'm ashamed to say that I could not finish this book because it was just too unreal to me. It was like watching ice melt, you knew exactly what was going to happen.

A.M. Hargrove, I loved the effort in creating the Vesturon aliens and the background knowledge of everything. I love how the author didn't really shy away from issues that are in their world true to ours in a way and how she took the novel step by step at a time. Most of the time I was confused by the pacing of the book and how things went. I love the first part of the book, Maddie's story. Then later the novel fell short on the big things that I wanted to happen or thought I wanted to. The author's writing was very strange to me. The dialogue felt very stiff, I didn't flow like a normal conversation and maybe it's just because aliens were speaking English and that was intentional? I don't know. I do love how she incorporated the slang and differences from the humans and the Vesturon. I was very interested in their species and felt like she could have added more, though I love all the tech stuff the author added.

An Update of such

If you read my blog on a daily basis you might have noticed that I did not post much this past week. Mostly because I didn't have the energy and nothing of importance was needed for the blog. I'm so sorry that I was unable to post a playlist today, but I hope there will be one next week.

As for my absence I've been reading constantly for reviews and a book tour is coming soon to Read'n'Write.  I find that posting every week day is quite difficult and that I will try to achieve that goal, but is not promising anything.

In the sidebar to your right is a Media section where I added another place where you can communicate with me. It's called Formspring. There you can ask me any questions you want. e.i. book reviews, books I'm currently reading. Anything, but please let's don't be gross. My username is Clarareads if you wanted to look it up instead. Also please follow me on twitter:) I love to chat with you guys so if you have a twitter please tweet me.

Since I've started so many books this past week, I see many reviews in the future and hope you check them out in the next week or two. If you haven't yest please follow. :) Thanks for everything and comment on anything you like.

Review: Flying Lessons by Natalie Cooper

This is my very first short story review and I'm very excited and worried at the same time because this is a first and I'm afraid the review might be too short. Though, I love challenging myself, you have to fall before you can fly.:)

Natalie Cooper's writing is nothing spectacular I have to say, but she made me care about a character in only nine pages. That takes some skill, right? Her writing didn't include any showing off vocabulary that sometimes I love in authors, but I'm glad she didn't. She made the story easy to follow and made you want to know what was going to happen. Cooper didn't go out and say what was happening which I like. The one quote that I really loved that she wrote in Flying Lessons was," I was alone, like a single sailor looking out onto a vast ocean. Except my sea was not one of waves, but made up of people-each one staring at me, waiting for me to speak." I'm not sure why I love that quote but I do, and I feel like that sometimes when I have to give speeches in class. I feel like Natalie Cooper writes in a very personal place with outstanding details that many can relate to.

I love the characters, especially Mom Mom. I don't know. Maybe it's her personality. Maybe it's the feeling you get that you're grandmother is just like her. Maybe it's the specialty that made my eyes prick near the end.

Writing to Wednesday: Birthday

So it was my birthday recently and it wasn't anything different. Besides the fact that it was also the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and that my pregnant fish gave birth around the same time I was born it was quite mundane. I wouldn't say that growing is mundane though because if you really notice how we change over a few weeks to years it's quite drastic how the world changes us.

You may be asking what I got for my birthday and well I got a new ipod touch charger because the old one was breaking. If you guys didn't know I check on the blog every morning before I go to school on that thing and try to answer all of your questions or just feedback. I also got a book. What book? Cinder by Marissa Meyer. I recently saw a review on it on Youtube (bookswithcourt) and it was really drew me in. The only thing I didn't like about getting the book was that Barnes and Nobel needs to stop reorganizing their shelves so often. It gets on my nerves at time when the young adult section is on one side, but all the new young adult novels that recently came out is on the other. It took me forever to find it and I personally don't really like their kiosk for finding books. The keyboard didn't work!
